Business Reflection Prompts for the end of the year & Winter Solstice

In the often hectic approach to the Christmas period I find myself honouring the Winter Solstice and tuning into the slowing down, quietening and embracing the darkness more with my seasonal, end of year business reflection prompts.

Business Reflection Winter Solstice Prompts 2025

The mayhem of Christmas never appeals to me as I it feel it goes against our natural rhythms. Each year I like to reflect on my business as we approach winter solstice.

No vision boards or grand plans yet (I use my Wilderness Planner for that in the new year). I usually wait until my energy returns in the new year. But I do find some gentle reflection as the leaves fall and the light wanes helps to ground my business in the seasonal energy of the winter solstice.

Here are my prompts that I’ve been pondering this year and I’ll also share my answers with you below too.

- BUSINESS END OF YEAR REFLECTION PROMPTS -

  • What am I proud of this year?
  • What do I want to grow or do more of next year?

  • What do I want to release and let go of from this year?

  • What have I noticed in nature that I’d like to embody more of next year within my business?

My business reflections and end of year thoughts

What am I proud of this year?

I’m proud of myself for slowly recovering with long covid, letting my business evolve and sharing my vulnerable journey here. I’m proud I’ve listened to my body and battled through lots of ‘should dos’, ‘guilt’, ‘feeling a failure’ and finishing the year with an inkling of where I’d like to go next. Mostly I’m proud that my business hasn’t completely died and I’ve been able to rest and recover without trudging into an office too!

What do I want to grow or do more of next year?

I’d love to grow more of my brand kits and shift a little in that direction with kits, illustrations and web templates with the option to have support customising them through Design Days or Design Camps

I’m shifting more to that as opposed to big brand strategy projects for now. I’d also love to do more mentoring and nature workshop/connection work too as that’s something I’ve loved but I think my energy has been mostly directed to client work so I’ve struggled to truly let that evolve. But one thing I know is that the workshops in nature and the online mentoring sessions I ran have truly lit me up!

What do I want to release and let go of from this year?

I want to let go of the pressure I put on myself to be like everyone else. I’m still recovering with a pretty debilitating illness that’s rocked my body so I want to just accept my capacity is less, I don’t want loads of stress and some things I will probably need to let die.

What have I noticed in nature that I’d like to embody more of next year within my business?

The flowing river and moody, sometimes still waves! I’ve really connected with water this year. Previously, I’ve been very much drawn to the mountains. But this year I’d like to embody the flow of water more, not pushing, following the flow and accepting what is. Sometimes still, sometimes stormy waves and that’s all ok.

I think that’s how I am and I’ve pushed myself to be more like everyone else. I want to honour that more and look at how I can support that waxing and waning energy too like the waves.

I then like to spend new year using my Wilderness Planner to set intentions. You can buy the planner here.
