11. getting found online: your site analytics

Going Live Tips

Once your site has been live for a month and you’ve connected your analytics you can start to see how people are finding your site. It can take between 2-6 months before you start to see significant visits but there are a few things you can do to help this…

  • Analyse the keywords you are being found for and look for anywhere you are getting impressions but you are fairly low down but not too low (e.g under 50)
  • Use a tool like ahrefs to find good keywords to use. You want something with a good amount of views and fairly easy difficulty.
  • Find a different keyword to target for each page
  • Once you have your keyword add this into your SEO section with Page Title, Description and the slug (the link)
  • Include this in your Heading 1 and then your headings by forming a sentence with it or writing it
  • Then pepper the keyword throughout your page copy
  • Try and link back to your keypages on other pages or in blogs
  • It also helps if you can get links back to your site from other sites and directories so submit to those, find PR opportunities and places you could be listed
  • Create blogs targeting keywords you’d like to be found on
  • Keep checking your analytics to see if you want to target any other keywords
